Bristol’s largest independent builders merchant recently launched two new services at their branch in Ashton, Bristol. A “Drive in Warehouse” and “Express Collection” service.
"We operate a highly successful delivery service from our Ashton branch, however we often got comments from customers, particularly if they were new to the branch, about how large it was inside compared to the outside space and how they’d never previously realised this. On talking to the team we wanted to maximise the space and the idea of the “Drive in Warehouse” was born.” Says Managing Director Julian Milligan. Customers can simply drive right into the warehouse, park and load up. The benefits of this are two fold – materials remain dry, and importantly in the building industry where “time is money”, customers can load up quickly and be on their way. With many sheet materials such as plasterboard, timber products and insulation held inside, this service offers a huge benefit.
While conceiving the concept of the “Drive in Warehouse”, Kellaway also came up with the idea of an “Express Collection” area. Again, putting the customer first, they created an area to the front of the branch with the most popular selling materials, which means that customers can just park up, load up and pay up!
“We’ve even introduced the Kellaway “30 minute challenge”, where we will put up ready an order of items from the Express Collection area which have been telephoned through to us 30 minutes previously.” Says Julian.
Kellaway Building Supplies is a local success story currently celebrating 25 years of trading, now operating from 4 branches in the city of Bristol, a branch in Yate and further afield in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire and Swindon in Wiltshire. The Ashton branch in Luckwell Road opened in 2002, and continues to grow. By providing these two new services, the company will be able to reach a wider customer base and strengthen their presence in this part of the City.
