The Friends of Horfield Common, formed at the start of the year raised £700 to pay for the items which were officially "opened" by three-year-old Stanley Mitchell and Joyce Coleman at the "I love Horfield Common" weekend in October 2008.  A working party also repaired a boundary fence at the sports pavillion after receiving materials from Kellaway Building Supplies on Kellaway Avenue and raising  more money through a quiz night at the Inn on the Green pub in Gloucester Road.

Stanley's dad, John, said "We hope to plant trees as our next project and to continue to make the whole place better for the whole community."

Kellaway Building Supplies Assistant Branch Manager, Tobias Godber said "We were delighted to help John and his team with their project.  As neighbours of the Common it's great to be involved in local projects such as this.  We wish them all well for future projects and are happy to support where we can."
