When Kellaway met the BBC...
April 2009
'Improving not moving' was the theme this Easter when the BBC broadcast their Breakfast programme from Kellaway at Horfield.

Kellaway were especially selected by the BBC for their Easter Monday broadcast because they wanted to feature a traditional builders merchant. Interviews were held with staff from Kellaway including Chris Parker, Sales Development and Marketing Manager, and Julian Milligan, Managing Director. In addition, a DIY consultant and local estate agent were also invited to engage in debate about the 'great bank holiday DIY home improvement fest.'
"This was a fantastic opportunity for us." Said Chris Parker, Sales Development and Marketing Manager. "When the BBC called asking to broadcast from one of our branches, we were delighted. Mind you, being on breakfast TV is not for those who enjoy their bank holiday sleep in. We had to be open and ready by 5.00am for the production team to set up! However it was fascinating to see how television is put together and what goes in to making a programme work." Adds Chris.
Kellaway also featured on BBC Radio Bristol the same morning, who were leading with a similar story.

As more and more people decide to stay put rather than move, the DIY market offers many opportunities. As the summer time approaches, we have considered the DIY market and put together patio packs which include all the gravel, scalpings, sand, cement, weed barrier, slabs and delivery, so all our customers have to do is one shopping trip.
